The Teaching Bit is a UK-based primary education resource business. We create and sell digital teaching resources for KS2 primary teachers.

What data we collect and when
When you sign up for our email list
We collect your email address only.
When you use the contact form on this website
We collect your name, email address, and message so we can reply to you. The form is processed by Netlify, our website host, and forwarded to us.
When you make a purchase through our Payhip store
Payhip collects your name, email address, and payment details to process your order. Payment information is handled directly by Stripe and is never seen or stored by us.
When you visit our Payhip store
Payhip may collect standard analytics data (such as pages visited and time on site). This is handled by Payhip under their own privacy policy.

How we use your data
Email subscribers: We use your email address to deliver the free resource you signed up for and to send our monthly newsletter. We will not share your address with third parties or use it for any other purpose.
Purchase data: We use your name and email to deliver your order and provide customer support. We do not use purchase data for marketing unless you have separately opted in to our newsletter.
Third parties
We work with the following services. Each has its own privacy policy.
MailerLite - Email marketing. Your email address is stored with MailerLite when you subscribe. MailerLite may use tracking pixels to record email opens and link clicks.
Netlify - Our website host. Netlify may collect standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site running securely, and processes contact form submissions on our behalf.
Payhip - Our digital store platform. Payhip processes and stores order data on our behalf.
Stripe - Payment processing. Stripe handles all payment transactions. We do not store card details.
TES - If you purchase through our TES shop, TES's privacy policy applies to that transaction.
International data transfers
Some of the services we use (such as Stripe and Netlify) may store or process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement to make sure your data stays protected.
Cookies
This website keeps cookies to a minimum. Our own pages set no analytics or advertising cookies. The embedded MailerLite signup form and our Payhip store may set cookies of their own. You can manage cookies through your browser settings. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.
How long we keep your data
Email subscribers: Until you unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send you.
Purchase records: Six years, in line with HMRC requirements.
Contact form enquiries: Deleted once your enquiry is resolved, unless we need to keep it for a longer period (for example, an ongoing support issue).
Analytics data: Retained in line with Payhip's own data retention policy, as this data is collected and held by Payhip on our behalf.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Ask us to delete your data
- Object to how we use your data
- Withdraw consent at any time
